As someone who appreciates the rich and diverse flavors of African coffee, my recent visit to Jana Coffee on Othaya Rd in Nairobi was nothing short of a delightful experience. Arriving just after 10 AM, I could already smell the tantalizing aroma of freshly roasted coffee wafting through the air. It’s truly a coffee lover’s paradise!
Jana Coffee Shop specializes in sourcing the finest beans from across Africa, particularly Kenya and Ethiopia. The ambiance of the shop is warm and inviting, with friendly staff ready to guide you through their extensive coffee menu. I ordered a cup of their signature brew, the Kenyan AA Coffee, known for its bright acidity and fruity notes - a true representation of Kenyan coffee culture. At Ksh 300, it was definitely worth the price, and each sip was like a burst of sunshine on my palate.
What truly stood out during my visit was the stellar service from one of the attendants, Sarah. She not only recommended the best beans but also shared fascinating stories behind the origins of the coffee they serve. Her enthusiasm and knowledge made my experience much more enjoyable, and I felt like I was part of a larger coffee community.
After savoring my coffee, I couldn’t resist trying something from the bakery. I ordered Akara, these delicious, deep-fried bean cakes that are a popular snack in West Africa. Priced at Ksh 150, they were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, making for a perfect accompaniment to my coffee. I could see why they are a favorite among regulars!
If you’re in the mood for something sweet, the Chin Chin was also highly recommended by other customers. Made from flour, sugar, and milk, and then deep-fried to a crunchy perfection, these little bites were perfect for my mid-morning craving. Many reviews rave about their addictive quality, and at Ksh 100, they’re a must-try!
Overall, my visit to Jana Coffee was a feast for the senses. The expertly roasted coffee, paired with delightful snacks, created a perfect morning retreat from the hustle and bustle of Nairobi. The prices are reasonable, especially considering the high-quality ingredients and the skill involved in their preparation.
If you’re in Nairobi and a fan of coffee, or just looking for a cozy spot to relax, I highly recommend stopping by Jana Coffee. You’ll be greeted with warmth and hospitality, and you may even leave with a new favourite blend. Don’t forget to say hi to Sarah, she’s bound to enhance your experience!
