Last Friday, I had the pleasure of dining at Kalamata Restaurant & Bar in Nairobi, and I must say, it was a delightful experience from start to finish. As soon as I arrived, I was struck by the restaurant's rustic charm paired with its Mediterranean flair. The al-fresco setting made for a perfect evening ambiance, allowing us to enjoy the fresh breeze while indulging in delicious food.
While perusing the menu, I was immediately drawn to the bold flavors that Kalamata is known for. I decided to try the Seafood Paella, which was priced at Ksh 1,800. The dish arrived vibrantly presented, adorned with an array of shrimp, mussels, and calamari, all perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. Each bite transported me to the coastal shores of Spain, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to bringing authentic Mediterranean tastes to Nairobi.
Our waiter Juma was attentive and friendly, providing recommendations that enhanced our dining experience. He suggested pairing my paella with a glass of their house white wine, which enhanced the seafood's natural flavors wonderfully. He was very knowledgeable about the menu, making my choices much easier!
For dessert, I couldn't resist trying the Baklava, a sweet treat that was simply divine. It was the perfect finish to our meal, with layers of flaky pastry, nuts, and honey that left a lasting impression on my taste buds. For just Ksh 500, this dessert is a must-try!
After dinner, I took a moment to soak in the atmosphere. The mellow tunes in the background and the cheerful chatter of fellow diners made for a truly relaxing evening. It was evident that Kalamata is a beloved dining spot for both locals and visitors alike.
If you're looking for wholesome dishes that celebrate simplicity and bold taste, I can't recommend Kalamata Restaurant & Bar enough. Whether you're after a casual dinner or a special occasion, this gem in Nairobi will not disappoint. Make sure to say hi to Juma during your visit; you won't regret it!
